GHS Global Harmonised System (EU) - Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 includes lists of harmonised classification and labelling for certain substances or groups of substances which are legally binding within the European Union.
Table 3.1 is a list of the classification and labelling in accordance with the criteria set up in Annex I to the Regulation (the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) as implemented within the EU). Table 3.1 is already updated with ATP 1 to the Regulation.
Table 3.2 is a list of the same substances and groups of substances as in Table 3.1 but with classification and labelling in accordance with criteria set up in Annex VI to Directive 67/548/EEC (the EU classification and labelling system prior the implementation of GHS). Table 3.2 is also updated with ATP 1 to the Regulation corresponding to ATP 30 and 31 to the Directive.
Table 3.1 can be applied for classification and labelling of substances and mixtures (when classification of the mixture is based on a listed ingredient) on a voluntary basis until 30 November 2010. Classification in accordance with Table 3.2 is mandatory. In case the voluntary classification is used, only the corresponding labelling should occur on the label (but classification and labelling in accordance with both Table 3.1 and 3.2 must then be indicated at the Safety Data Sheet).
From 1 December 2010 all substances must be classified and labelled in accordance with with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and Table 3.1 when applicable.
From 1 June 2015 also all mixtures must be classified and labelled in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and Directives 67/548/EEC (on dangerous substances) and Directive 1999/45/EC (on dangerous preparations or mixtures) have no longer any legal status.
Incompatable Chemicals - A wide variety of chemicals react dangerously when mixed with certain other materials. Some of the more widely-used incompatible chemicals are given below, but the absence of a chemical from this list should not be taken to indicate that it is safe to mix it with any other chemical!
